The New York Council of
Dog Owner Groups
York Council of Dog Owner Groups (NYCdog--pronounced
"nice dog"), was founded in 1999 to pool the resources
and political clout of New York City's off-leash recreation community.
NYCdog is an umbrella organization, a group of groups, representing
both "Off-leash Hours" community organizations such as
in Prospect Park, Central
Park PAWS, Ft.
Greene PUPS, the Juniper
Park Dog Association, and almost all the 40+ official
enclosed dog parks in NYC.
provides mentoring to individuals representing communities that
wish to begin their own dog parks or establish Off-leash Hours.
NYCdog represented the interests of NYC dog owners and non-dog owners
who support off-leash privileges that were threatened by
a lawsuit before the State Supreme Court.
in the case by filing
a cross-motion to intervene on the side of the respondents
and also providing the judge with a written Memorandum
of Law supporting Off-leash Hours policy. NYCdog provides
advocacy and political action to preserve the off-leash privileges
many New Yorkers hold dear.
NYCdog is dedicated
to improving our communities by promoting the establishment and
maintenance of humane off-leash recreation opportunities, responsible
dog ownership and respectful park stewardship.
